Top of the league greetings to you all. Some weekends are just there but last weekend was perfect for every Nigerian gooner.

Arsenal took all 3 points at the Villa Park with a 2-0 win over bottom placed Aston Villa. First half goals from Giroud and Ramsey were enough to propel the Gunners to the top of the table at least for about 24hours pending the outcome between Chelsea and Leicester City. A win for Leicester City on tonight will move them to the top with 2pts over Arsenal and 20pts over Chelsea.

Giroud has now scored in virtually every away game he has played this season. With Arteta and Cazorla sidelined, the Frenchman had to take on the penalty kick duty and scored his 50th premier league goal. Ramsey should be enjoying his central midfield play after grabbing his 2nd goal since he resumed his central duties. I think Ozil feels more comfortable assisting than scoring. He is 7 assists short of Henry’s 20 assists record of the Premier League. Ozil needs to score for my fantasy sake.

In other news, Petr Cech has equalled David James record of 169 clean sheets in the Premier League. He will surely break it.

The sweetness of the weekend started with “Boring Boring Man United 🎶”. They lost 2-1 at AFC Bournemouth few days after crashing out of the Champions League. In contrast, Javier Hernandez  (Chicharito) has scored about 14 goals this season, 4 more than LVG’s United – Philosophy.

Klopp is surely not enjoying the Premier League yet. Origi saved his blushes to grab a 2-2 draw. Spurs were unbeaten before Sunday but who would have expected Newcastle to get a 2-1 win at White Hart Lane? Tonight, it is the battle of the Blues. One blue is 1 point away from relegation, the other blue is 1 point away from the top. Which Blue will you support?

On the green side of life, Nigeria’s U23 team defeated Algeria 2-1 in the final of the U23 African Cup of Nations. Warri Wolves’ Oghenekaro Etebo scored a first half brace to increase his goal tally to 5 before Algeria reduced the deficit in the 2nd half. Nigeria held on, thanks to a 2nd penalty save by Daniel Emmanuel. Etebo finished as the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

Nigeria, Algeria and South Africa will represent Africa in the footballing event at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Congratulations Coach Samson Siasia. Congratulations Dream Team VI.

Meanwhile, Yaya Toure won the BBC player of the year award for 2015. He may have wished that Iheanacho didn’t obstruct his shot for the City winner. Who will win the CAF award? We will wait till next.

Monday is here… Who will Arsenal face in the second round of the UEFA Champions League?

Enjoy.
