Flights cancellations, flight rescheduling characterized my last two days as I sought to carry out an assignment in some remote location. The City of Port Harcourt is wet and full of tales but the footballing internet is full of Vardy.
Vardy will decide in 24 hours. Leicester City have offered a new contract. Vardy needs more time to decide. Arsenal also need Mahrez. No, They need Mkhitaryan from Dortmund. Walcott is wanted by Westham. Chambers needs a loan deal. etc. The internet especially twitter is a wonderful place. Photoshop skills were at work yesterday but Vardy was on a plane to France. Any decision will have to wait till after the Euros. Will Vardy remain a Fox or will he be a Gunner?
Away from Vardy, the NFF has continued their romance and love for everything Giwa. Their handle is Giwa, their website is Giwa. Everywhere Giwa. They have made Giwa more popular than the Federation Cup and almost toppling the League in terms of publicity. The political juggernauts are having a good day with this lingering Giwa vs Pinnick saga.
While you all moan over Vardy, Giwa and the NFF, you can applaud Rangers for getting all three points in Owerri. This is their first win in Owerri since 2001. It has added a new level of adrenaline to their title chase but Wikki Tourists went to Onikan and aided Ikorodu United in their quest to play in the NNL next season.
The Blue champions from Aba were beaten by Nasarawa United and ThatEnyimbaFan has his lamentations documented on his blog. Their Abia brothers stole a point in Akure while Shooting Stars had returnee coach Ogunbote to thank as they hammered Akwa United 3-0.
Football never dies and can be likened to a religion. There is a lot to talk about – The Copa America is on, the NPFL continues tomorrow, the Euros begins at the weekend, the NNL is rolling, the NWPL is also on. You can always get enough to satisfy your footballing curiosity.
Time to be at the airstrip but the rains has started.
