The 2023/24 Premier League came to an end with Manchester City crowned as Champions after a 3-1 victory over David Moyes’ Westham. Arsenal left it late to record a 2-1 win over Everton at the Emirates.

The Citizens were pushed all the way by the Gunners but Foden’s first half brace eased Blue half of Manchester to their 4th consecutive Premier League title. They are the first team to do so. Rodri added a 3rd in the 2nd after Kudus gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope (2-1) before the break.

A deflected free kick gave Everton the lead but Tomiyasu responded immediately before Kai Havertz tucked in the winner late on.

Tomiyasu’s goal was followed by Kudus’ acrobatic goal for Westham and that triggered the potential of things to come. Arsenal needed 2 more goals to be champions – one more for the Hammers and the other for the Gunners.

It wasn’t to be for Arsenal. They finished the season with 89 points, only second to Manchester City with 91pts. The two teams finished with +62 goal difference with Arsenal having more clean sheets and conceding fewer goals.

The Gunners would look back to defeats to Aston Villa, Fulham & Westham and wish they won or at least got a point from each of those games.

It was good to see Jurrien Timber come on in the second half for his second appearance of the season. Martinelli had a good game today, deputising for Saka who missed the game.

Manchester City can win the double if they defeat Manchester United at the FA Cup final. Arsenal will take solace in the Community Shield – the only title they won in the season.

Arteta: Keep Pushing!
