Arsenal survived the scare from giant killing Wigan thanks to the lottery of penalties. Metersacker had given away a penalty in the 60th minute but redeemed himself and the gunners in the 83rd minute. Arteta would continue to intercept with Chamberlain causing a lot of troubles for the Lactics. Fabianski did finally save two penalties for the gunners to win 4-2 on penalties.
