Alexandre Lacazette made his Arsenal debut in Australia and capped it up with a goal against within 15 minutes of being subbed in as the Gunners defeated Sydney FC 2-0 in their first pre-season game. He was assisted by Super Eagles’ Alex Iwobi who also came on in the 68th minute.

Per Metersacker opened the scoring in the 4th minute with an acrobatic effort. Welbeck had the luxury of missing a second half penalty before Lacazette came on as a sub to seal the game.

Arsene Wenger started newly signed Saed Kolasinac who partnered with Per Metersacker and Bielik in a back three formation. There were also first team debuts for Joe Willock, Cohen Bramall and Reiss Nelson. 17 years old Nelson caught the eyes with his wonderful display and box of tricks. His pace down the right caused a lot of problems for the Australians. Will Nelson be the Iwobi of this season?

It was a good work out for the team and a good introduction of the youngsters. Malen and Nketiah also had their first senior actions with the team.

Who is next? Western Sydney Wanderers.

Time to look at my FPL Team. Are you thinking of Lacazette?
