Today’s post is late, no thanks to the hassles of flying through the storm. We had a delay arriving the city of Lagos and it spiralled into rush hour.
Anyways, I am sitted in the waiting area for the officials to indicate flight departure across the Atlantic. Checking the scores, I can see that Spain were held to a goalless draw by Cape Verde.
This is an African “victory” for the Island of Cape Verde. All the Spanish hype couldn’t break down the defensive walls of Cape Verde. I hear Mikel Arteta would be proud of Cape Verde.
Yesterday, Cote d’Ivoire defeated Ecuador 1-0 with Amad Diallo scoring the decisive goal. Sweden hammered Tunisia 5-1 with Viktor Gyokeres on the scoresheet. The Tunisian coach has been fired. What a reaction from the Tunisian FA.
In other matches, Netherlands were held to a 2-2 draw by Japan. I was surprised to see a headed goal against the Orange boys. Kai Havertz was awarded man of the match as Germany whitewashed Curacao 7-1. He loves the big stage.
Time to go… oh Egypt have taken the lead against Belgium in Seattle. Love it. Saudi Arabia will take on Uruguay while Iran take on New Zealand.
I hope to have arrived in time to watch France vs Senegal. A point or more from the Teranga Lions will be great.
