Now that the semis are over, attention is shifting to the final days of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. France and England will battle for third place while Argentina will hope to retain the trophy, facing Spain on Sunday.

In addition to the trophy and the gold medals, a new symbol of triumph will be awarded to the winning team. For the first time in a FIFA Competition, the winners will also receive bespoke championship rings – an American sporting tradition.

According to FIFA, each ring will be a part of a strictly limited edition of just 2026 individually numbered pieces, a direct tribute to the tournament itself. Of these, 30 will be presented to the victorious team, while 1996 will be available to fans worldwide.

One side of the ring proudly features the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other side will be customised to reflect the identity of the winners on Sunday. Each ring will be individually numbered, custom-fitted and delivered with its own certificate of authenticity.

Now, this is unique. First of it’s kind in football. Spanish and Argentine players will hope to own one of these. As fans, I expect the championship rings to be expensive.

Tomorrow, we preview the third place match.
