Arsenal are through to the quarterfinals of the UEFA champions League after turning the tables over favourites Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena. 3 quick goals from Giroud, Walcott and Arteta within 15 minutes of the first half made the universe to stand to their feet.
The North London Team had been written off after a 3-1 home loss at the Emirates. The gunners needed to respond in the first half of the Munich encounter to make the tie a match.
Bayern Munich leveled the tie in the early minutes of the second half no thanks to shambolic defending from Metersacker. They hoofed and puffed for a goal to put an end to the quest that was headed for extra time. But they were stunned in the first minute of added time as Cazorla and Walcott combined magnificently on a counter to set Podolski for the 4th arsenal goal of the night. 4-1, the ecstasy in the arsenal bench was boundless as Wenger couldn’t help hugging Bould.
So Arsenal progressed with a 5-4 aggregate win over the bavarians to the quarterfinals. They are the only British team left after Celtic and Manchester United were defeated by Juventus and Real Madrid respectively.
Oh, how easy it is to dream. If only I would wake up on Thursday morning with my dreams realized. It looks very impossible but there is a little chance. Wenger believes, why can’t I? The slimmest of hope is the greatest of hopes.
The Arsenal would need to be at an alarming best to score 3 goals in Munich to make this Munich Miracle. If Fortuna Dusseldorf can score 2, Arsenal can score more.
I need a Miracle not a Massacre.
Till Thursday Morning.
