The 2016 CAF Champions league is almost over for Nigeria’s remaining representative in the competition. Enyimba FC needed to grab all three points from Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night in South Africa to steer their campaign back on track. Lo and behold, they lost 2-1 to the Brazilians and are heading to the Antarctic.

Over 160 million Nigerians had hopes on the Peoples Elephant but they failed to live up to expectation on a cold Wednesday night in South Africa. A 3rd consecutive loss in the CAF Champions League left their hopes hanging on a very thin thread.

ThatEnyimbaFan summarises all that happened last night but it tells you how everything seem to have deteriorated since Enyimba won the Champions League in 2004. The Nigerian champions were second best all through the night but had a screamer from Dare Ojo as a highlight.

Qualification is now seemingly impossible. Enyimba need to beat Sundowns in Port Harcourt and Zamalek in Egypt to nurse any hope of reaching the semifinals. The disqualification of ES Setif makes it harder. Ooh Enyimba.

Away from the travails of Enyimba, a certain Takuna Asano is linked to Arsenal from Japan. I can only think of Ryo and Inamoto. And the FA need Wenger to head the Three Lions. Funny people.

The Euros continues today with Portugal and Poland vying for a place in the last four. I am rooting for Szczesny’s Poland.

That is all for today. Time to look at my Euro Fantasy.
