After that infamous 7-5 miraculous win at Reading where we turned a 4-0 down scores to win in extra time, we had a date with the Red devils in Hades to begin our November 2012.

RVP scored and the question on my lips and many others was: where is the rivalry? Santi Cazorla’s goal just before the final whistle was a mere consolation. Vermaleen gifted the former arsenal captain in the early minutes of the game and the rest is history as the game ended 2-1.

Champions League came calling in Germany as the Arsenal visited Schalke 04 who had stunned the gunners at the emirates some weeks back. Unfortunately, we surrounded a 2-0 first half lead to share the spoils.Walcott and Giroud had put us ahead.

Arteta’s penalty miss marred the London derby with Fulham as we shared the spoils again. But the North London derby brought back a spark of the oldies as we sent spurs down the lane. The 5-2 defeat of Tottenham was the first win of November.4 days later we dispatched Montpellier thanks to a double Giroud assist converted by Wilshere and Podolski. But the draws away to Aston Villa and Everton were annoying and unexpected.

  • 03: Manchester United (A) 2-1 loss
  • 06: Schalke 04 (A) 2-2
  • 10: Fulham (H) 3-3
  • 17: Tottenham (H) 5-2 win
  • 21: Montpellier (H) 2-0 win
  • 24: Aston villa (A) 0-0
  • 28: Everton (A) 1-1

The game at Old Trafford kicked started our November and the 1-1 draw with Everton summed it up. Between these two fixtures were home wins over spurs and Montpellier with draws against Schalke 04, Fulham and Aston Villa.

Arsenal lost once, won twice and drew 4 times. We scored 13 goals, 5 of which was against Tottenham. We conceded 9 with the highest (3) against Fulham. We could muster only 2 clean sheets and failed to score only once in that draw at Villa Park.

Giroud was involved in most of our November goals (7). He assisted 3 and converted 4. Walcott had 6 involvements, scoring 3 and assisting 3. Only three players featured in all the 7 matches of the month: Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Oliver Giroud.

In summary:

Match of the month: Arsenal 5 Tottenham 2. Winning the bitter rivals spuds down the lane was great. It was the only match that was true arsenal-ish.

Player of the month: Oliver Giroud. Scoring 4 goals and assisting 3 was a turnaround for the Frenchman. He was involved in over 50% of our 13 goals scored.

Goal of the month: Podolski’s volley against Montpellier.

We haven’t started December well, but I hope we finish well. Let’s send Bradford to the cleaners today.
