Before the 2012/13 season came to an end, all inhabitants of the Milky way knew that the Gunners would continue their trophy drought and the media started linking every Tom, Dick and Harry to the Arsene Wenger led side.

Bouldy, Wetin we go do?
Bouldy, Wetin we go do?

They had pettered down the contributions of Oliver Giroud who was new to the English Premeir League. They had tagged Podolski as the most subbed and less fit. With questions ringing around Theo Walcott, Gervinho was a total mess to the red and white. The strike they say was the problem. Did we agree? Maybe.

Since the strike force seems to be the problem, the gunners were initially linked with David Villa from Barcelona. When at mid-season. he refused to come, or Barcelona refused to sell, the media turned to Cavani. Wenger claiming we could sign the likes of the Uruguain sparked possibilities that petered to ashes as reality downed on the gooners.

Gazidis gave the gooners hope and the merry-go-round of media speculations and Arsenal-failed bids continued from the tail of last season to the eve of the only “silverware” that the gunners looks poised to carry annually – The Emirates Cup.

We have been linked to Jovetic, who is now in Manchester City. We have media-ed rooney, we have been close to Higuain only for Napoli to steal him from our noses. We have courted and Suarez of recent but Liverpool are asking for £55m which I know Gazidis and Wenger would never spend for Suarez.

So we are back to ground zero. What do we do? According to wenger, we can win the league without any new players (paraphrased). We have the core of what we need to challenge for next season. Is that true?

What are the options? which would you prefer?

Let us see how the Emirates Cup panes out.
