A Clean sheet, Two goals, Three Points and Five points Away!!

Santi Cazorla reignited his goal scoring form by showing great technicality to open scoring for Arsenal in Liverpool’s defeat at the Emirates. The Spaniard scored after his header came back to him in the 19th minute from Sagna’s cross before Man of The Moment, Aaron Ramsey eased out any fear of a Liverpool equalizer with a wonderful goal thanks to the Ballon D’Assist: Mesut Ozil.

The gunners had lost 2 important games to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and exited the League Cup no thanks to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. October had ended in a sour note for Wenger’s side but November’s first fixture had Brenden Rodgers and his Suarez/Sturridge partnership. With an eye at the away game in Dortmund, the gunners needed to respond to the defeat to Chelsea at mid-week.

5 Points Clear.

Newcastle United usurped Chelsea’s bid to enjoy top spot at least for an hour after defeat the Blues 2-0. The result meant that an Arsenal win would open up a 5 points gap from the Blues. And so it happened. You should have seen Mourinho’s face after the defeat. He knew Arsenal would win and couldn’t just bear the sight of the Tyneside faithful’s jubilating. Liverpool and many pundits may have expected a draw and Arsenal slipping off the table but we are clear by 5 points.

Winning Without The Full Squad.

When the list of players for the match was released, the starting 1 was strong but not so many had confidence with the bench. With Wilshere aggravating his ankle injury, the bench had the likes of Bendtner and Jenkinson, who performed below expectation against Chelsea. Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden were also on the bench with Vermaelen. The benched oozed out no confidence and that is because we have so many gunners on the treatment table.

Flamini, Walcott, Chamberlain, Podolski and Wilshere would have added to Wenger’s headache and must probably utilized many of the wasted chances. Despite their absence, the Gunners were slick with the passes, clinical in defense, and scored beautiful goals. I can only Imagine the amount of pace that would be offered by Walcott and Chamberlain or the Power shots by Podolski.

You Need More Than 40Million.

Luiz Suarez was the dancing queen prior to the closed windows with Arsenal bidding infamously with 40m+1. The Uruguayan was a thorn in the flesh for the Arsenal side but could not put any goal across the line of the goal. His partnership with Sturridge has been branded SaS on twitter but the real SaS turned out to be Sagna and Santi as they combined to break the deadlock.

Arsenal also had a 42m man that managed an assist for Aaron Ramsey. Mesut Ozil may have played his part but his arrival has only brought out the beast in Ramsey and other players collectively. You may have over 40m like Spurs but you need more than 40m, You Need Ramsey. Fergie would be chewing his gums faster even in retirement as he watches Ramsey’s rise.

Man of The Match: Aaron Ramsey.

The gunners were exquisite and it would be better to attribute this award as MEN OF THE MATCH. Szczesny was in form, justifying why he should be amongst the highest earning stoppers: 100k is not for fun. Kos intercepted but slipped once. Arteta was all over the place. Giroud flicked and linked but missed that chip: He may need some Vela lessons. But Aaron Ramsey seems to be everyone’s MOTM. His goal capped up his warhorse display at the middle. He initiated attacks after breaking down Liverpool’s attacks. The Welshman is now on double figures.

Aaron Ramsey stands tall in the League. Man of the Match, Man of the League.

Others

I hope Gibbs calf injury is not his normal annual leave. In as much as we have Monreal, the competition is bringing out the best in the two left backs. We need to kill off our chances when we have them. I nearly kicked my plate when Giroud missed his chip. We missed the pace of Walcott. I hope He gets back soonest. We were also fortunate that he didn’t allow play to continue after Sagna fouled Suarez. I am also happy we kept a clean sheet. Did you see sturridge expression when Suarez missed a chance and failed to pass?

Nigeria and Africa

Nigeria defeated uruguay 2-0 in the on going FIFA U-17 WC in UAE. The Golden eaglets joined Sweden and Mexico (all from group F) in the Semi Finals. Argentina defeated Cote D’Ivoire 2-1 and would face the Mexicans who defeated Brazil on penalties. Nigeria would face Sweden who they drew 3-3 at the group stage. All matches would be played on Tuesday 5 Nov.

What a weekend to be a Nigerian Gooner. An Nigerian Win and A Arsenal win. 2-0 each. So bring on Dortmund, Lets play on our best surface: Away.
