Two-time African champions, Enyimba, have won the 2013/14 Glo Premier League Pre-season Tournament in Abuja after defeating Kano Pillars 1-0 on Tuesday.

The People’s Elephant finished the tournament with three wins in the four-team event and conceded no goals.

It was Sibi Gwar’s goal in the 76th minute from two yards out that gave the Aba club their first trophy of the season. It will taste as good revenge as Pillars won the League last season, beating The People’s Elephant.

This victory signifies that the aba based Enyimba is ready for the 2014 NPFL and the CAF champions league.

Captain of Enyimba, Chinedu Udoji told supersport.com that opening the season on a winning note is “a good omen” for Enyimba.

He is also happy that the club continued with their meanness at the back by not conceding any goal in their three matches against Bayelsa United (3-0), Warri Wolves (2-0) and Kano Pillars (1-0).

Enyimba finished the last season without conceding a goal in all of their 19 home games.

However the Aba club will pocket N1.5 million as the champions of the 2013/14 Glo Premier League Pre-season Tournament.

Earlier on the final day of the tournament, Warri Wolves edged Bayelsa United 2-1 to finish second behind Enyimba.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will continue their fairytale run in South Africa when they face the Black Stars of Ghana for a place in the final of the CHAN 2014. The home based Nigerians had performed a miracle against Morocco and would look forward to ease pass Ghana.

Coach Stephen Keshi will engrave his name in Nigerian folklore when he wins this CHAN 2014 after he won the AFCON 2013 12 months ago.

Come you Eagles. Gun down the Black Stars.
