Olivier Giroud returned to the starting line up to grab a quick brace leading the gunners to a 4-1 rout of Sunderland.

The French man who had a torrid time following his affair with that model needed to score and that he did. Whether it was the good performance of Yaya Sanogo or a desire to pay for his doings, Giroud was great. His drought of about 6 games ended when he converted Wilshere’s pass/deflection. Minutes later, he accepted a gift from a back pass and touched it deftly behind Manonne.

The Former Arsenal goalie have been doing great since crossing over to Sunderland but the gunners were too silk for the Capital One cup finalist at the Emirates. The Italian was to pick the ball 4 times from his net.

In a game that record signing Ozil was rested completely, Rosicky picked up the mantle just like previous seasons and capped it up with a well taken team goal dinked over Manonne for the 3rd of the day. Wilshere and Giroud had a hand in that goal and in Wenger’s words:

“I am very pleased for Rosicky because today Bergkamp got a statue and I think Rosicky took the Bergkamp role well. Certainly Dennis will have been pleased to have seen him play.”

The gunners were 3 nil up by half time and Sunderland seem to have their minds at Wembley awaiting Manchester City. They offered little opposition with Arsenal averaging over 65% in ball possesion.

The god
At the break, legendary Denis Bergkamp spoke to the Emirates fans. His stature was unveiled before kick off. A caption caught my attention at the Emirates:
“Why Fly When You Can Walk On Water”

The non-flying dutchman may have inspired the gunners as they continued the routing after the break with Koscienly grabbing the 4th unmarked from a corner. 4-0? I didn’t predict such.

Injuries took its toil on the gunners as Monreal picked up an ankle injury at half time and Koscienly even had to be pulled off on precautions because of a back problem.
These injuries forced Sagna to play Right Back, Left back and center back in one game. He needs a better contract. I wouldn’t want him to leave at the summer. If he must leave, he must go with a trophy.
Wilshere had to endure the last 10 minutes after aggregating his angle. Injuries and Arsenal?

In all it was a good performance from the team in response to losing to Bayern Munich on Wednesday. Arteta was great, so was Koscienly and Metersacker. Szczesny was immense too but could do little as Sunderland pulled a consolation late on.

Good to see Giroud back and better. 2 goals and an assist. MOTM. Hope Ozil returns better.

Chelsea and Manchester City won and so the race is on.

Stoke is next.
