Arsenal 1 Manchester City 1: More Than A Point?

After the demoralizing 6-0 bashing at Stamford Bridge, Arsenal were unfortunate to let in a goal in the last minute as Swansea went home from the Emirates with a point to the disaapointment of the fans and Flamini.

Petro-dollar Manchester City visited Arsenal, and I expected the worst: A 6 goal thriller. The game seemed to be heading in the 6-0 direction when Arsène Wenger’s side fell behind through David Silva’s strike. But the gunners held on and had some contentious decisions against them. The first half was blue.

The gunners came out blazing in the second half and were rewarded with a goal by Flamini thanks to a cross from Podolski. The gunners would settle for a draw after missing other chances in the second half.

Chelsea’s surprising 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace through the title race open with John Terry’s own goal the decider. Mourinho was so mad he nearly hit the ball boy. The “specialist in not failing” maybe heading for another failure like his last year in Madrid. Chelsea even jubilated Flamini’s equalizer like a trophy much more than the frenchman himself. The “Special” One has ruled chelsea out of the race but they are just 2 points ahead of City after playing 2 more games.

With the Blues slipping at Crystal palace and City drawing at Arsenal, Liverpool took the top spot by the horns by trashing Tim Sherwood’s Spurs 4-0 with Suarez among the goal scorer. The Reds now lead Chelsea by 2 points and City by 4pts. City have two games in hand. Arsenal are 7 points off the top. can they still hope?

This 1-1 draw at the emirates is more than a point, it brings that glimmer of hope. I hope it drives the gunners to a victory away at Godison Park when they face Everton next. With the never-ending drama of the league, the gunners can dare to hope.

Even if the hope doesnt materialize, they must take the FA cup. They must fight on despite injury to key players. With players like Rosicky and Flamini, there is more than hope.

Nigeria

Away from the English drama, the Glo Nigeria League continued in the weekend and top of the drama was Enyimba’s home loss to their neighbours and League debutants, Abia Warriors. The former CAF Champions league winners were stunned by their former player Cletus Itodo in the 35th minute. The game ended 1-0.

Other results in the league are:

Gombe Utd 2 – 1 Heartland FC
Sharks FC 3 – 0 Crown
Dolphins FC 2 – 1 Sunshine Stars
Nasarawa Utd 2 – 0 Lobi Stars
El-Kanemi FC 1 – 1 Akwa FC

The UEFA Champions League returns. How will Moyes and United Fare?
