If there was any hope of still being in the Premier league title race for Arsenal, that hope seemed to fizzle away as Flamini unfortunately turned the ball into his net in the 91st minutes against Swansea at the Emirates.
After the Wenger1000 Slap at Stamford Bridge, the gunners were expected to win this tie to build back their confidence but they were behind in the 10th minute. Szczesny, Vermaelen and Metersacker watched helplessly as Wilfred Bony turned in a cross to the net.
The gunners will continue to beat around the bush, lacking the final bite in the final third until Podolski came in for Chamberlain.
In the 73rd minute, Arsenal’s best player of the night, Keiran Gibbs did a great job on the left side of the swansea box before crossing for Podolski to score.
66 seconds later, Podolski turned provider as Arsenal countered and Giroud turned in the German’s low cross. 2-1 and the belief was back.
Kim Kallstrom came on for his debut as Arsenal seemed to be satisfied with the 2-1 lead. Off went Rosicky. Sanogo had a taste of the game with Giroud subbed off.
Unfortunately for the gunners, a series of unforseen one touches in the 91st minute between Metersacker, Szczesny and finally Flamini rolled on to the gunners net. They tried to clear out a swansea attack but it never was to be. A great slap.
With 3 minutes left in added time, the gunners went for broke but had the referee to thank as he blew the final whistle just as Swansea had a break away to score a winning goal.
The boos in the stadium signified just how the fans feel from the streets of North London, to Lagos, New York and all over the world.
Any positive? Gibbs MotM, 2 quick goals, Kim Kallstrom debuts.
Negatives? back to the traditional 4th place trophy hunt with Everton winning at St. James Park.
Hope? None of Ramsey, Wilshere or Ozil is close back. The closest is Ramsey who has 2weeks more on the sidelines. Manchester City is next. Hopeless.
Final Position? With this form and confidence, 1st is only a dream, 2nd miracle, 3rd is possible, 4th is real, 5th is not impossible, 6th is not cancelled out.
Wake up Arsenal, Wake up.
