Lukas Podolski headed to the land of the Azzurris in search of first team action after spending the 1st half of season warming the bench for Arsene Wenger.
Young Joel Campbell have had more game time and offers more defensive shield on the left than Podolski. But loaning out the club’s best finisher raises an eyebrow especially at the early part of the window.
The ever-smiling aha-ing forward have had little game time this season with just 2 start and 11 subs appearance for the gunners in all competition (no league start). The German foward posted this on instagram:

I can’t express in words my gratitude towards Arsenal fans for all they have done for me in my years in London! Please know my heart always holds a place for you. I’ve loved every minute playing for Arsenal & I hope I have left my mark on the club & fans alike. Hopefully we shall meet again! COYG #AFC #RedArmy #Fans #Poldi #Gunner #Thanks
The “hopefully” comes with a degree of uncertainty and reminds of Arshavin. Will Poldi wear the red and whites of Arsenal again? He will always be a gunner but will he offer us the services of his left cannon?
@Podolski10: Keeping an eye on the FA Cup today, hoping to see an Arsenal victory! #AFC #FACup good luck…
Will he reunite with his German family at the Emirates? Will he get the game time he so much craves for with Inter Milan?
