To blog on a Monday morning is now becoming difficult but the joy of last weekend remains so ever-fresh that it will be unfair not to steal out time from my busy schedule to write about them.
Swansea 0-3 Arsenal.
If you expected a replica of the game at Hilsborough, then i believe you are still wiping the smashed eggs from your face. 3 second half goals from Giroud, Koscielny and Campbell gave Arsenal the victory in Wales. Giroud scored the 2000th Arsenal goal under Wenger
Don’t be deceived, the game could have gone south for Arsenal in the first half but Gomis will still be wondering how Bellerin came out of nowhere to steal the ball away from him. I wasn’t worry about Swansea scoring but was not ready to see that scary Gomis celebration. Thank you Bellerin. You are faster than Usain Bolt. Argue with the Devils in Manchester.
Ozil also grabbed a couple of assists to spite his critics. #YaGunners. I am more happy about his 2nd assist because it gave Joel Campbell his 1st Arsenal goal. The Costa Rica forward started his 1st Premier league game for Arsenal in the absence of the other Gunners who could play on the right.
Abia Warriors 0-1 Enyimba
Enyimba edged closer to a record 7th league title with their 1st ever league win over Neighbours, Abia Warriors in Umuahia. This was their 4th league meeting with Abia Warriors winning the 1st tie 1-0 in Aba last year and 2 subsequent high scoring draws before Sunday’s game.
It last season’s top scorer, Mfon Udoh, that grabbed the winner after Enyimba captain Udoji missed a penalty. The victory consolidated Enyimba’s spot on top with a 6 point gap over Warri Wolves who ran riot over Bayelsa United. Unfortunately a 4-0 win is still 3 points. Enyimba now need a point or even half to win the league in Aba over Warri Wolves before travelling to Lagos for the last game of the season.
Nigeria 3-0 Brazil
In faraway Chile, 3 goals in 5 minutes gave Nigeria a 3-0 win over Brazil to set up a semi final with Mexico. Top scorer, Victor Osimhen grabbed his 8th goal of the tournament and will hope to equal the tournament record of 9 goals before the tournament is over. It was the first ever game in the u17 Worldcup between the Golden Eaglets and Brazil. I wonder if the tears in Brazil on Sunday night can be compared to the Senior Worldcup.
Will Nigeria retain their title? They beat Mexico in 2013 to lift the trophy, they will need to beat them again to get to the final. No country have gotten to more semifinal than Nigeria. Neither have any team won more U17 titles than Nigeria with 4 trophies. In the other semifinal, Mali will play Belgium.
I can’t stop talking about the performances of these teams over the weekend. Roger Federer even beat Rafal Nadal to add another dimension to my excitement.
In other news, Jose Oil Services have achieved a company record of drilling as fast as 1pt/game. The Manager was so excited that he was short of words and had nothing to say after they helped Klopp and Kop Ventures over the weekend. I hear a certain Cesc is leading a revolution to have the Manager handsomely rewarded.
Enjoy your week. It is the Champions league again
