10 Months off, 7 minutes back, 3 touches, 1 goal.

That is the summary of the man – Dat Guy – who broke the foxes and grabbed all three points at the Emirates. It was like a fairy tale. It was full of ecstasy. A moment every returning player would love to enjoy.

It was a must win game for Arsenal if they must show intent in challenging for the title. It was a Super Sunday – a day where the top 4 teams play themselves. There will be victors and there were victors. It was a North London victory. Although, no half of North London would have loved the other to grab 3 points last weekend but Kelechi Iheanacho’s 3rd Premier league goal was not enough as Tottenham defeated Manchester City. Harry Kane had opened scoring from the spot before the Nigerian teenegar drew City level. Eriksen gave the final blow late on in the game.

Football is lived in moments and sometimes it is an accumulation of previous events. Vardy scored from the spot after coning Atkinson to award a penalty against Arsenal just before half time. Monreal was the culprit but Coquelin, returning to the starting line-up cheered the Spaniard on. Koscielny didn’t return for the 2nd half with Chambers taking his place. That may have made Suarez happy in Barcelona.

The Gunners huffed and puffed with Giroud winning various aerial ball but the net was yet to feel the impact of goal. Two quick yellows resulted in a red for the men in blue and thus the desire to be defensive and keep a 1-0 lead was seen. Off came an Angry Mahrez but on came Theo Walcott for Coquelin who was on a yellow.

Wenger made two subs and these two subs grabbed the goal. A cross from Bellerin was headed down by Giroud for Theo Walcott to score his first goal since December. In came Dat Guy – Danny Welbeck. In his rustiness, he fluffed a chance. Giroud shots was kept away by Schmeichel. The time tick-tocked, the tension rose and Monreal was fouled on the dot of the end of added time.

Ozil’s quality cross lofted in, on Eagles wing, with the blessing of the god of assists, into the box of the foxes. Up went Welle – Dat Guy – Danny, rising graciously and directing the ball beyond Schmeichel. Oooh to be a Gooner.

2-1 win at the dot of full time. 2 points behind. A good momentum to welcome Barcelona. But the Catalans went haywire though in a 6-1 rout in the La Liga.

In other football news relating to Nigeria, Enyimba lost 1-0 to Vipers SC in Kampala. The Elephants were wasteful in the first half and will surely blame themselves for losing in the second half. The other CAF Champions League representative, Warri Wolves walked over Sporting Da Praia Cruz FC of Sao Tome and Principe. In the CAF Confederations Cup, Akwa United made a debut and won 1-0 away in Congo over Mokanda while Nasarawa United could only get a 2-1 win over Senegalese 2nd Tier Generation Foot in Abuja. The return legs will be in a fortnight.

This is a good Monday to be at work.

Enjoy your week.
