It was a mixed weekend for an average Nigerian Gooner with events in London, Sunderland and Port Harcourt providing the thrills of a regular weekend.

Three Premier League Starts for Iwobi
Alex Iwobi made his 3rd Premier League start for Arsenal and summed it up with two assists – for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to give the Gunners a 2-0 lead. Even the chief of assists needs assistance. Still wondering why he didn’t start against Egypt in Alexandria.
Three – Three Madness
Arsenal made Andy Carroll look like Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the England striker grabbed his second ever Premier League hattrick. The Gunners were cruising with a 2-0 lead until the self destruct button was triggered just before half-time to level the tie at 2-2. Andy Carroll then got his 3rd in the 2nd half before Lauret Koscielny got the equalizer.
While Carroll should have been sent off for a tackle on Koscielny, it was visible that Arsenal did not prepare for him. The three away goals counted for just 1 point and you could ponder at why Cech was left on the bench or why Campbell is not in squad for the day. Seeing Walcott jog in signals the acceptance of the current result or an even worse one.
Three Quick Goals Against The Red Devils
Manchester United visited North London for the second time this season and they got exactly what they got the first time they came around – a 3-0 bashing. It was a replica of their visit to the Emirates with 3 quick second half goals at White Hart Lane. Kane failed to increase his 22 goal tally but Alli and Alderlweireld gave me good FPL points. You play FPL?
Arsenal’s hope went slimmer with Vardy’s brace against Sunderland. Ladies and gentlemen, join me in Congratulating Leicester City as Champions. Hiddink finally lost a Premier League with Chelsea with a 1-0 defeat at Swansea.

Three Mfon Udoh Goals Against Etoile
Nigeria’s only hope in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba FC, defeated visiting Etoile du Sahel 3-0 in the first leg of the second round. This is the round before the group stage and Etoile had only lost once in 4 previous CAF Champions League meetings.
Mfon Udoh scored his 5th, 6th and 7th goal of the season to emerge top scorer of the CAF Champions League. Last season, the striker spent more time on the sidelines but has shown he is the best in the land. Enyimba will take the 3-0 lead to Sousse and hope to avoid a scandalous defeat. I am waiting for Lotfi Wada. According to ThatEnyimbaFan, it was an easy game.
Three Weddings
So my weekend was drained with 3 weddings attended on the same day. The weddings involved a close brother, a friend and a neighbour. Enough jollof rice to soothe the 3-3 draw at the Bolyen Ground.
Welcome to the new week. Hope you enjoyed your weekend.
By the way, say a prayer for Ikorodu United FC. They are bottom of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Enjoy.
