“Arsenal has arsenalled it” came the message on my phone after the final whistle at the Emirates last night. The message was from a friend and it was not to say it is the first time the Gunners bottled opportunities to grab maximum points.

Arsenal went down 2-0 within the first 14 minutes. The hornets two goals in 3 minutes to give the home side an uphill task. Ramsey had a hand in the two goals conceded – a deflection and a mismanaged throw-in. The Welshman would later be subbed off in the first after he picked up an injury.

The Gunners huffed and puffed like the big bad wolf on the houses of the three little pigs. The nests of the Hornets were made of bricks and could only let in Alex Iwobi’s goal in the 58th minute unlike the five shipped in by Southampton few days ago at St. Marys.

It was a sad night. It was sadder because other title challengers picked up a point each last night except Arsenal. The Gunners were meant to bank on the points to be lost or shared at Anfield between Liverpool and Chelsea but faltered. What if Diego Costa had converted the late penalty?

Time to lick wounds and prepare because Chelsea is next. If there is any hope of thinking about the trophy then Arsenal has to beat Chelsea this weekend.

Meanwhile Odion Ighalo has left to China. Happy New Month to you all.
