For the love of the game and the continuous promotion of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), I organize a prediction competition for my Goonerdaily folks and it has been hilariously successful.
A match is chosen from the available every weekend – most likely the Live match – and participants make their predictions. Last weekend, it was Akwa United vs FC IfeanyiUbah.
We had about 20 predictions for the game but only Enigma predicted a 1-0 away win for FC IfeanyiUbah. That was weird for someone who loved to predict a 1-0 win for every home side but it was a good sign that there is an increase, maybe little, in predictability of the NPFL. He must have been licking his lips at the prospect of picking up maximum prediction points because he was very disappointed to see “FT: Akwa United 1-1 FC IfeanyiUbah”
His disappointments were not shared by three other Nigeria Gooners (Deon, Chuks and Bola) because they predicted a 1-1 draw. It was even their first perfect prediction.
The most hilarious moment was last night. When Seka gave the visitors the lead, it was eminent that the result will not be business as usual.
K_sturna: FC Ifeanyi Ubah, who have lost all their away games so far, have taken an early lead at Akwa United #AKWIFE
When I informed the house it was half-time and FC IfeanyiUbah were still 1-0 up, some started pleading for 2 penalties for the home side. Very funny. We love things to always go in our favour. I needed 3 Akwa United goals though because I predicted a 3-1 win.
D’Sun: home game…. 2pk for Akwa pls
After Alhassan drew Akwa United level, there was hope but the cry for a penalty was still up.
K_sturna: Akwa abeg one more goal. Make the referee give dem penalty abeg.
There was hope with the Red Card to FC IfeanyiUbah but scores remained 1-1 in added time.
D’Sun: Pk pls. Chai *Tear*
FT: Akwa United 1-1 FC IfeanyiUbah. There were various reactions which were related to their predictions.
Banks: Na wah
K_Sturna: This Akwa Utd Na fools sha.
Chuks: PERFECT PREDICTION. YASS!!!
Deon: My first time oh
Chuks: Me too…I think *Pensive*
Ok. That was it last night. Sometimes we need any kind of goal for our preferred teams, even if it is manufactured but will feel sad if such manufactured calls go against our team.
This gives me a good percentage of my NPFL weekend excitements. Support the NPFL in your little way.
