Alexis Sanchez’s love for Manchester City has grown to another level. The Chilean according to a new Arsenal news blog in town, GoonerRepublic, has rejected the chance to earn £400,000-a-week after tax and join ex-Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini at Hebei Chine Fortune in order to join the Citizen.
According to the report, Alexis was alerted about a lucrative move to the wealthy Chinese Super League, but the Chile forward made it clear that his first choice is reuniting with his former boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
Having rejected the Chinese club offer, Alexis would need to earn £800,000-a-week in England to take home what he could have in China, but his desire means he is determined to join Premier League leaders City.
The Citizens, according to the Arsenal news blog, citing report from FootballWeeks, revealed City were really at the final stages of signing him in the summer, only for an agreed move to collapse on deadline day when Arsenal failed to secure a move for his identified replacement, Thomas Lemar from Ligue 1 champions Monaco.
He will be out of contract in the summer, meaning Arsenal have just one chance to cash in on him if City are to make a move for him in January, or they lose him for free in the summer.
Guardiola was coy when asked about a January swoop for Alexis in his pre-Tottenham press conference, saying: “On the pitch, I don’t know. The January transfer window is in the winter.
“I don’t know, believe me, I don’t know what we’re going to do.”
It seems more a question of when, rather than if, Alexis Sanchez rocks up at the Etihad Stadium, with Guardiola still a big fan of the versatile attacker.
