Manchester United are reportedly the front-runners now in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez ahead of Manchester City. The report is according to The Guardian that also claimed the deal offered by the Red Devils for the signing of Sanchez is apparently a cash+swap deal which means we could be seeing Henrikh Mkhitaryan joining Arsenal once Sanchez leaves.
It’s believed Mkhitaryan is definitely a downgrade to Sanchez but if played in the right formation, the former Borusssia Dortmund player has the key to make a real impact. The Emirates might be the right place for the Armenia international to step up his game and get back on track. Our depth is filled with good many ball players and the club play with more of an attacking mindset than Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side. A preview of how our lineup could be with the Armenian in the team:
Mkhitaryan will be offered more freedom playing in a back three formation under Arsene Wenger rather than he had mainly be used under Mourinho where he had much more defensive responsibilities. With the Armenian in form, the front three of Arsenal can be more dynamic and interchange positions more regularly.
There won’t be much demand of the ball as showcase in the situation with Sanchez, so this should bring more players in the game and increase our team’s flow. But on the other hand, the 28-year-old who is now just 2/6 to join the North London club this month via odds from top betting sites, will find it hard to match Sanchez’s goal and assist contribution for the club since his move from Barcelona so Arsenal will depend on other attacking players like Ozil and Lacazette to share the burden more evenly.
That being said, in order Arsenal blogs, Wenger is said to be pro-active in the market for a new acquisition he would add to his team once Sanchez leaves the club and Bordeaux and Brazilian star Malcom has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
Sky Sports transfer expert Guillem Balague reported on Sunday that the Gunners were also considering the prospect of signing Dortmund’s scoring beast Aubameyang as the club didn’t think Malcom is qualify enough to put on the Red and White jersey.
Balague went on revealing that Arsenal are growing increasingly optimistic that we can secure a £53.4m deal to sign Aubameyang from Dortmund over the coming days.
Balague as quoted via Sky Sports said:
“Arsenal have a few signings they want to confirm in the next few days. One of them they want to close and finalise is Aubameyang.
“They are willing to pay 60m euros. So they hope Dortmund accepts, and are very optimistic that this could be the case. There are other clubs interested but right now Arsenal is ahead of them, but nothing has been finalised yet.
“It would take perhaps longer than Alexis’ sale, but they’re putting all their efforts on it. They think he would be a perfect replacement to Alexis, and would work really well with Alexandre Lacazette.
“Aubameyang wants a deal, Arsenal want a deal, but we’ll have to see what Dortmund say about it. It won’t be the only signing Arsenal make, as they are after two more to strengthen this month to reinforce the side. As we saw at the weekend, they need it.”
There’ve been claims and counterclaims from other media outlets throughout Europe reporting the strong interest is to sign Aubameyang so it looks like this transfer story has some foundation to it and I think he would be a superb addition.
