Recent weekends have had its unique demands which includes the regular football all over the world.
Before the weekend, Arsenal parted ways with Theo Walcott. The England International joined Everton and even grabbed an assist in his first game for the Toffees. Memories of Walcott playing for Arsenal will remain with the Gunners for long – the runs, the goals, the assists and the 2-0 gesture to Tottenham in that FA Cup run.
Impossible to break into the first team this season, Walcott had been restricted to only Cup games and they wouldn’t be sufficient to make a claim for a seat to Russia. His failed attempt at being a top 9 may have been a blow but Walcott can ignite his career with Big Sam if the latter plays to his strength.
Sanchez said his goodbyes and has headed to Manchester United with only dotted lines to sign. Mkhitaryan is expected to head the other way with the prospect of the arrival of Aubameyang from Dortmund. Juicy? I will keep my comment till the deals are completed.
The Gunners didn’t miss Alexis Sanchez in their 4-1 win over Crystal Palace at the Emirates – at least for now. Arsenal ran to a 4-0 lead within the first 22 minutes with goals from returning Nacho Monreal (6′), Koscielny (10′), Alex Iwobi (13′) and Alex Lacazette (22′).
In 22 minutes, the match was more or less over. Monreal was subbed off after the 34th minute for precautionary measures. Cech quest for a 200th Premier League clean sheet was blown away after Milivojevic scored for Crystal Palace in the 77th minute. When will Cech get this 200th clean sheet. He has been searching for it like the Da Vinci Code.
On the stats side, Lacazette’s goal was the 500th scored by a Frenchman for Arsenal. The beauty of the goal came with team play and final assist by Mesut Ozil. Wonderful. The win put Arsenal within 3 points of 5th placed Spurs after they could only manage a point from Southampton.
The Carabao Cup semifinal return leg holds on Wednesday and every Gooner will hope to have the duo of Auba and Mkhi in the dug out at least for Chelsea’s visit. Monday is over and no deal announced yet. Hope it doesn’t drag to deadline day. The Arsenal contingent are in Munich.
Did Wenger miss Weah’s inauguration?
