The premature conclusion of the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) came as a shock. At first it was like rumour but the confirmation from the League Management Company (LMC) took the wind of my sail.

It was a matter of integrity and an opportunity to make a statement but the club owners shocked the land. 80% of the clubs chose to end the season and rather focus on the AITEO Cup. All for the sake of a deadline.

The sour taste still lingers in mouth and everyday i wake up with the hope that the decision was a farce. The ban has been escaped, talks of Giwa is gone or at least suspended for now, the league prematurely ended and all that is left is the AITEO Cup.

The draws for the AITEO Cup were made on Thursday with Round of 64 fixtures scheduled for the weekend. Jollofsports captured the fixtures below:

I wonder why Feeder teams are allowed to participate in the AITEO Cup but that will be a discussion for another day. For now, we have Enyimba’s CAFCC quest, the 2018 NNL, the 2018 NWPL and the 2018 AITEO Cup to worry about.

There is the small matter of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in Seychelles. Will the Super Eagles win convincingly?
