Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all reportedly made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion to enquire about the services of Yves Bissouma.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, experienced journalist and transfer expert Duncan Castles has claimed that Yves Bissouma is a subject of a transfer approach from three Premier Leagues in Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Malian midfielder has been with Brighton & Hove Albion for three years now, having joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2018 from Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille and has developed into a top player with Brighton. At 24-year-old, the midfielder as established as one of the most sought after midfielder in the league.

The duo of Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for Bissouma for a while now while Manchester United have recently joined the two clubs on the list of admirers of the Malian international, according to reports from Castles.

The journalist, speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, said,

“My information is that there are inquiries from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal as to how much it would cost to sign him. Now he has improved significantly during his time at Brighton and what is quite important here is that his statistics are exceptionally good.

“We know that clubs – in particular United, Liverpool and Arsenal – are particularly heavy on this and use analytics as a filter to decide which players to pursue. You can see why his game would fit Liverpool’s setup under Klopp.”

The Gunners had been in the market for a new central midfielder all summer with questions over the commitment and future of Granit Xhaka with the club. However, after it was confirmed recently that the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder would be staying at the Emirates, things have really gone quiet. Furthermore, Arsenal have managed to add Albert Sambi Lokonga to their squad, who has looked good in the first few games he had been called up for. So, in all honesty, a move for Bissouma may not be club’s top priority this summer.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are yet to replace midfield mainstay Georginio Wijnaldum, who left for PSG on a free transfer earlier this summer. While Naby Keita has stepped up in the first two games, his injury record does not really inspire confidence. So, a late move for someone like Bissouma, who has proven himself in the Premier League, could prove to be a vital one for the Reds.

As for Manchester United, they have a packed midfield unit currently, with Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek all vying for the two starting spots. However, with Pogba being utilised in an advanced role, McTominay out with an injury, Matic not getting any younger and van de Beek not favoured by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a midfielder of Bissouma’s ilk would be a welcome addition.

But with less than a week left for the transfer window to close, a move could be difficult to pull off, especially with Castles confirming that Brighton are trying to get the 24-year-old tied down to a new contract. It remains to be seen if there is any development on this front this close to the deadline day.
