Martin Odegaard scored a 10 minutes brace as Arsenal took all three points at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. William Saliba scored a worldie to make it 3-0 to the Gunners against AFC Bournemouth.

Mikel Arteta made no change to the team that defeated Leicester City at the Emirates but Fabio Vieira displaced Pepe on the bench. The Ivorian is expected to go out on loan before the end of the transfer window.

The Gunners started brilliantly. Gabriel Jesus won an aerial tussle outside the Bournemouth box, dribbled past a couple of cherries before setting up his compatriot Martinelli. Martinelli’s left foot shot was saved but the ball fell to captain Odegaard who slotted home (0-1).

Captain Odegaard with a brace for Arsenal

Six minutes later, the Norwegian made it 2-0. Saka found White on the right who was fractionally onside. His cross found Gabriel Jesus but Odegaard took it off his feet for the goal.

The first half ended with no attempt for the home side. The Cherries had no shots, no touch in the Arsenal box and were completely dominated.

In the second half, the home side came out stronger, had a couple of shots and moments but couldn’t get a goal.

The Arsenal fans singing aloud

The away fans were the 12th member of The Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium. They sang their lungs out from the opening goal till after the full time whistle. They had chants for Saliba and even Xhaka.

They chanted about William Saliba longer and the Frenchman rewarded them with a beautiful goal in the 54th minute. Xhaka laid a pass to him at the edge of the box and he took a one time left footed curler which found the top corner of the post.

The goal was so beautiful that Zinchenko couldn’t believe it. His reaction says it all. It was a relief for the centre half who scored an own goal last week.

Jesus had the ball in the net but it was chalked off by VAR for offside. Nketiah, Lokonga, Odegaard, Tomiyasu and Tierney were introduced to see off the game.

Three wins in three, that is a complete opposite of how Arsenal started last season. It took Arsenal 9 matches to score 9 goals last season, it has taken just 3 matches to equal that this season.

I am enjoying the rise of Wilo Saliba. He had a 100% pass completion rate. He is the 1st Arsenal defender (75+ passes) with a 100% completion rate since such the data firms started keeping stats. Two away clean sheets is good for his confidence.

Wilo Saliba

Gabriel Jesus was involved in both goals. He played 90 minutes but couldn’t join the goal scorers. Fulham is next at the Emirates, he would be determined to make more contributions.

The victory was dedicated to Arsenal’s head groundsman Steve Braddock who passed away this week.
