England and Argentina made it through to the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with victories over Norway and Switzerland respectively. They both required extra time to progress to the last 4.
First, it was Jude Bellingham’s brace that sent the Three Lions through in Miami. England came from behind following a great goal from Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute. Arsenal’s Odegaard was the provider, making him the highest Arsenal assist provider in World Cup history with 4 assists.

Jude Bellingham got the equalizer in the 2nd minute of first half added time, receiving a pass from Gordon before gliding his way in the Norwegian box and slotting beyond the goalie. England could have doubled the lead in the first half but the half ended 1-1.
The coaches made substitutions but none resulted in a goal. Norway had the ball in the net from a corner kick in the 55th minute but upon VAR review, the corner kick was retaken because Haaland fouled a defender before the kick was taken. That 2nd half was all Norway with England hanging on. Ajer had a shot hit the bar in the 76th minute.
Early into the extra time, Jude Bellingham reacted quickest after the goalie spilled a shot from Morgan Rogers. The Real Madrid star converted the winner – his 5th goal of the tournament. It could have been 3-1; Spence fell in the box but VAR chalked off the awarded penalty.
In the latter game, Argentina knocked out Switzerland. Mac Allister headed in a Messi corner kick in the 10th minute but Ndoye equalized in the 67th minute.

Swiss Breel Embolo got a 2nd yellow card for a simulation against Paredes. That put the pressure on the Europeans but they held on till extra time before Julian Alvarez scored a beauty, putting the ball into the top right corner. Lauturo Martinez made it 3-1 in the 121st minute.
There will be no matches for the next 2 games before the semi final matches. France will play Spain on Tuesday in Dallas, while England take on Argentina the next day in Atlanta.
