The group phase of the UEFA Champions League came to an end on Wednesday and 16 teams have made it through with defending champions, Chelsea, knocked out to the lesser Europa League.

PSG, Schalke 04, Malaga, Borrusia Dortmund, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester United progressed as group winners. Meanwhile, Porto, Arsenal, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Shaktar Donetsk, Valencia, Celtic and Galatasary coming second in their respective groups.

From an Arsenal perspective, finishing second isn’t looking good. 3 wins, a draw and 2 losses summed up Arsenal’s group matches. We scored 10 goals and conceded 8; not a good stats. We had 7 different goal scorers scoring a total of 10 goals with 4 players providing the assists

Losing at home to Schalke 04 was the lowest point of the group stage. Throwing away a 2-0 lead in Germany was unbearable. Beating Olympiacos and Montpellier were our highest moment. We mustered only one clean sheet despite the Bould effect.

Statistically, Mikel Arteta is my player of the group phase amassing an average rating of 7 points in 5 games, followed closely by Podolski and Cazorla with 6.8 points. Lukas Podolski is my preferred choice of man of the group phase, getting involved in 6 goals of the group; scoring 3 and assisting 3.Giroud was the assist leader with 4 assists and scoring a goal.Gervinho assisted 3 goals and scored 2.

So we may face either of PSG, Malaga, Borrusia Dortmund, Juventus, Bayern Munich or Barcelona. Who would you rather prefer?
