We have waited for over one month if not two to see an Arsenal action on the field. While the off-field action have been restricted to the clearing of the deadwoods and acquisation of Yaya Sanogo, the Gunners began their Asia tour in Jakarta. We have waited patiently for Higuan to arrive only for the deals to add misery to Arsenal fans around the globe.
Nevertheless, in Jakarta Arsenal gave their fans a resounding 7 goal match keeping a clean sheet and giving the boys a good warm up game.
Olivier Giroud scored twice as Arsenal kicked off their Asia tour with a comfortable victory over the Indonesia Dream Team. Theo Walcott converted Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lay-off to give the tourists a half-time lead, Chuba Akpom opened his account for the first team and Giroud came off the bench to net twice in the space of three minutes before Lukas Podolski, Kris Olsson and Thomas Eisfeld all scored late on.
The first half witnessed only a Walcott goal but the second half had the rest of the goals to give Arsenal a good preseason start. I am happy for Eisfeld and Giroud.
Forget the scoreline, the most important thing is that the boys had a good warm-up and the fans enjoyed every bit of it. Every player had a bit of action except Wilshere, Miyaichi and Szczesny. Thank goodness, there were no injuries and we would head to Veitnam with a clean bill of health except those not in the tour.
While Manchester City were beaten by Supersport United 2-0 and David Moyes’ first game being a 1-0 defeat to shingha united, the Arsenal will savour in this 7-0 victory till wednesday in Veitnam
