He didnt score against Spurs but he was a thorn in their flesh. He got so many knocks that he had to leave the pitch before the end of the game. With a smile on his face, all seemed well enough but the sour news was to come.
Theo Walcott was ruled out for 6 months meaning he will take no part in Arsenal’s quest for silverware this season and more excruciating is the World Cup in Brazil in the summer which he will take no part for the three lions.
The young English man just returned from injury FC some weeks ago to add his style and stamp his authority for the gunners. A couple of brace in two games, an assist at Newcastle and a last minute goal over Cardiff was notable.
Starting as the top9 in the FA cup tie against rivals Spurs, Walcott’s pace and drifts caused problems but the gunners will have to make do without the pacey forward till next season.
So how will Arsenal adapt? Before Walcott returned some weeks ago, they have been winning thanks to Ramsey, Ozil and Giroud. With a surplus of midfielders, Wenger may opt as before to play Wilshere or Ramsey on the right.
With Ramsey out for sometime, Wenger may better opt for returning Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He is stronger and even more direct than Walcott although less silky.
Young German Serge Gnabry may have a claim here. He performed well against Spurs creating an assist for Cazorla’s goal.
Other options include Super Tom Rosicky and Japanese Ryo who wenger claims will be more involved in the 2nd half of the season.
In all, Arsenal must move on from Walcott’s injury and win silverwares. Eduardo and Rosicky’s injuries in time past has taken away the gunner’s quest for titles and this must not reoccur.
The ball is in Wenger’s court. Whether he buys or not, the EPL trophy and any of the FA Cup and the UEFA champions league must be at the Emirates.
For Theo, it is sad to be in Germany 2006 without kicking a ball, deemed below par to travel to South Africa in 2010 and 2014 is 95% out. Can he have a miracle? For his sake and not England, I wish a miracle takes him to Brazil.
Aston Villa is next. Remember the opening game of the season. Revenge. Ozil and Giroud returns.
