For the 1st time since March 2013 against Swansea, Abou Diaby featured for an Arsenal team, the U-21s as they lost 2-1 to Chelsea. The France international lanky midfielder played the first 45 minutes for the young guns. With 402 days of lying on the treatment table, Diaby must have had a ward named after him in the Arsenal injury arena.

Abou Diaby

Abou Diaby’s injury hasn’t created any disbelieve in the Frenchman as he even hopes to be in Brazil. According to Wenger, Diaby is fit and ready to play. Will Diaby feature in any of Arsenal last 4 games of the season?

“Yes of course [he could play for the first team this season], it depends how well he comes out of the game. He hasn’t played for a year but physically he is ready to play, completely. It is now just decision-making, getting used to challenges again. He needs a game.

“Everybody [counted him out] but he is fit and ready.”

Meanwhile, across the country to the land of the Devils, The Chosen One was sacked. After shattering and creating all manner of negative records, David Moyes has been shown the door. The 2-0 defeat to his former club on Sunday was the final straw.

The fans who had expected to go trophy-less this season owing to his appointment by legendary Sir Alex Ferguson could not hide their joy as the news filtered from Manchester. Trophy-less was expected but not in this manner. This decision is even heightened by the fact that Moyes’ successor at Everton have done far much better. Martinez has created more positive records in his 1 year reign at Godison park than Moyes’ 10 year reign.

giggs and moyes

Chosen by British bias and his consistency in keeping Everton above 10th every season, the Scottish has made Manchester United look so ordinary. I wonder how SAF would be feeling now while he lectures. It is only disappointing from an Arsenal perspective that the gunners failed to score a goal against this low United side with Moyes winning one of the two ties.

Moyes’ sack should be a lesson to club  directors and owners. Avoid bias and sentiment. Go for the best. Mourinho wanted the job but SAF thought otherwise. SAF overlooked Mourinho’s arse-licking and i heard the Portuguese cried.

This sacking is like a trophy victory to the fans especially my friend Ebuka. He has even thrown a party along the beaches of Lekki Pennisula in Nigeria.

Talking of Mourinho, the Chelsea boss featured a defensive side in their 0-0 draw away at Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Semi-final. The Blues had 4 defensive midfielders on show as Diego Simeone could only settle for a draw. Chelsea did leave Spain injured with Cech and Terry the casualty of the war. Cech will be out for the season.

Atletico v chelsea: Petr Cech and Jose Mourino

The war continues on Wednesday at the Sunderland-battered-Bridge. Will Chelsea win? Mikel and Lampard will miss the 2nd leg with suspension, Cech and Terry are injured. Will they still be 2nd after the weekend?

The other side of Madrid will play against defending champions Bayern Munich today.
