It seems like ages since we saw an Arsenal game and life is beginning to get boring without seeing Sanchez’s razor-teeth-like aggression, Cazorla’s twinkle feet, Chamberlain’s direct play, Le Coq’s midfield marshaling and the rise of the red half of London.
The year looks as if it is yet to kick off despite the FA cup 2-0 win over Hull and the Premier League loss to Southampton, a game Szczesny will love to forget so quickly. I still remember how he grabbed his water bottle like a hungry 8 months old baby after the 2nd goal was conceded. Everything went wrong for the Pole that day although he did get some saves to keep the scoreline decent.
Whether he smoked up to the heavens to ease his pains, or he burnt down a daily mail paper stand, i doubt Arsene Wenger will drop him against Stoke. Szczesny is a good keeper, better than Fabianski, Ospina and Martinez. He does command his area but goalies have their days of madness. De Gea had his period, Courtious had his, Fabianski had his….. Szczesny always returns better after such criticism and poor display. He may still grab the golden glove the season.
The long wait for footballing action have been been polluted by non-field business with transfers, speculations and rumours. Podolski aha-ed away to Inter and got his first came in a 1-1 draw with Juventus but had to start from the bench. He may have grabbed a goal, but that is a story for Another day.
Yaya Sanogo has been on the edge of a loan move but nothing has been signed yet. He has been linked to Bordeaux in France, Socieded in Spain, New York City in the US, Urawa Red Stars in Japan and Nembe City in Nigeria, but Wenger is preferring a Premier League team. Wheresoever he goes, I would be happy to see him get refined before return because i am yet to be impressed.
“Sanogo will go out on loan, My option is preferably in England. We are very short today of an option in England and maybe he should go to an English Premier League club. I want Joel Campbell for the future to stay here. – Wenger
Joel Campbell is rumoured to be wanted by David Moyes who conquered Barcelona last weekend but it seems unlikely for Wenger to let his Costa Rican go.
But more worrisome is that Arsene Wenger has not brought in anyone. This is day 10 of the transfer window. 23 days more. Are we going to have an Arshavin-ic signing by February 2nd?
To more kicking the ball matters, the Arsenal squad has been boosted by major returns and the spirit is high and Stoke will be appealing to the FA to cancel the game or play the game at the Britannia.
The team news is that Ramsey (hamstring) is back in training, Ozil (knee) is back in training and Flamini (groin) is back in training. We’ve got three players back. Welbeck (thigh) is still not available for Sunday because he is a bit short. Maybe next week he will be available. Giroud is back from suspension. So we have a bigger squad than last week. – Wenger at yesterday’s press conference.
Anything less than a 3-0 will look like a draw. But a win is a win. COYG…. Make this weekend count.
The AFCON is drawing close and the Asian Cup is on. There are no gunners invloved.
Enjoy
