The weekend looks boring no thanks to BBC’s decision to make Arsenal travel to Manchester on Monday for the FA cup quarter final game with the Red Devils. Yes, Kane had a brace against QPR to bring his season tally to 26 same as Benik Afobe, the ex-gooner. Will Afobe return?

Back to the non-boring side of football, The Gunners will face the Devils on Monday but will have no Angel Gabriel to cast the demons out. Hopefully the canons will be loaded to grab a victory at Old Trafford.

No gooner wanted a United clash in the FA cup quarter final. Many of my Arsenal friends prayed and wished for a relatively lesser team and when the inevitable happened, they wished Preston North End used the last of their names to cut United’s progress short.

LVG and United will be excited to grab any type of silverware even if it is the Emirates cup and Wenger’s infamous Fourth Spot Trophy of which they sit comfortably a point behind the Gunners.

United brings some bad memories to many Arsenal fans with the 8-2 bashing in August 2011 still tasting fresh in my mouth. It was a Sunday afternoon, i was in the Northern city of Zungeru and the shame of being beaten by 8 goals is unforgettable. Wenger went to Shoprite and grabbed 5 players that saved the season.

The 8-2 was under Fergie but how David Moyes and his whack united team kept two clean sheets and grabbed 4 points out of 6 against Arsenal is still a mystery yet to be resolved. Every one grabbed free points from the Devils but they always find a way to make Arsenal do the playing and they do the scoring.

LVG came on board with his 3-5-2 algorithm but Arsenal gifted them a 2-1 win at the Emirates. Wenger have never defeated LVG and Monday will be another chance for the French professor to get one over the Dutch tactician.

It has been 4 years since Arsenal defeated Manchester United in all competition with Aaron Ramsey the sole goal scorer that Sunday afternoon in May 2011. Will Ramsey feature on Monday? It is almost 10 years since Arsenal won a game at Old Trafford (sept 2006).

10/11 Arsenal 1-0 Manchester United - Aaron Ramsey

My best Arsenal victory over United was in 2007. Thierry Henry grabbed a late late winner to complete an Arsenal double over Ferguson’s United. Rooney had opened scoring in the 53rd minute. Van Pierse came in after 67 minutes and grabbed the equalizer in the 83rd minute after Henry miscued Rosicky’s cross.

The roof came off the viewing center in Eziobodo Owerri, a village in the Eastern Heartland of Nigeria where i viewed the game, as Henry turned in Eboue’s cross just before the referee blew the final whistle.

Can i have such excitement on Monday? I am tired of failing to defeat United. If we must retain the FA Cup, we must beat United at Old Trafford.

Till Monday Night
