Alexandre Lacazette scored a brace as Arsenal defeated Westbrom 2-0 at the Emirates. The Frenchman reacted quickest in the 20th minute to give Arsenal the lead after Alexis’ freekick hit the woodwork. He doubled his tally for the day via the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Ramsey was fouled in the box.

Home Boy Lacazette

Lacazette became the first Gunner to score in his first three home games since 1988. He doubled his season tally to 4 goals – 2 short of the leading pack of Aguero, Lukaku and Morata. The later grabbed a hat-trick at stoke and Lacazette had to respond in Monday night. He could have grabbed his own hat-trick of the game week if he converted the 70th chance that fell to him from Alexis. Will he be in contention for the Golden Boots? When will he score his first away goal? Against Bate Borisov?

Gibbs and Gareth

Kieran Gibbs returned to the Emirates for the first time after joining the Baggies in the summer. He featured for 90 mins and ran the left wing for Westbrom. I was surprise seeing Gibbs take corner kicks for Tony Pulis. He took three corner kicks in the game – only Xhaka took more (5).  It was good seeing him get 90 mins under his belt. At the tail end of his Arsenal career, he was reduced to a bit part role.

Gareth Barry made his 633rd Premier League appearance, surpassing Ryan Giggs to become the player with the most appearance in the Premier League. With 601 starts, 52 goals and 63 assists, Barry have featured for 20 years in the Premier League. Congratulations.

Unreal Nacho

It could have been 1-1 at some point in the game but Nacho Monreal chalked the ball of the line in the first half after Rodriguez had headed past Cech. It would have been an uphill task for the Gunners but the Spaniard saved the day and earned Arsenal a clean sheet. A great work ethic and a player that has featured in more positions this season than any other Arsenal player.

He won three aerial duels at an 75% success rate, misplaced just four of his attempted 62 passes and showed his ability to read the game well by making a total of six interceptions – the most of any player on the pitch. – Squakwa

Attentions now switch to Europe – Champions League and the Europa League. Bate Borisov is next for Arsenal.
