Arsenal put up a better display at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea compared to the horror show in the FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners held Chelsea to a goalless draw in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi final. The two teams had opportunities to grab the winner but the strikers were not having the best of the day.

It was Wenger’s second game in the stands following his ban for his complains about Mike Dean in the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns. Although Dean has admitted he was wrong, VAR was used for the League Cup semi finals. VAR was called upon more than once in the game, creating a period of anxiety.

It was an improved performance from Alex Iwobi but his tame shots at goal is something that needs to be worked on. The back three made the best of their combination to keep a clean sheet. Conte ensured he didn’t capitalize on a weakened Arsenal side. He finds it difficult defeating Arsenal.

The London clubs will face themselves again at the Emirates to know who progresses to the final. Manchester City take a 2-1 advantage to Bristol City. Wenger has never won the League Cup. Will that be his parting gift?

It seems Wenger was impressed with Mavropanos in training such that discussions about the possible loan move have thrown to the trash. He was on the bench against Chelsea.

It is the season of transfers and while Arsenal have signed Mavropanos and handed first team contracts to some young Gunners, the exit door is bubbling.

Francis Coquelin has joined Valencia and will be remembered for his perfect partnership with Santi Cazorla in the 2015/2016 season. Since the Spaniard’s injury, the best of Coquelin seem to have been in the rehabilitation room with Cazorla. Le Coq saved Arsenal’s 2015/2016. He had to be called back on loan from Charlton Athletic after injury hit the Gunners.

I would miss his aggression and passion How much he loves Arsenal. He opted for Spain to join Gabriel than play against Arsenal in the Premier League. Hope he rises again. Sad that he never scored a goal for the Gunners. Oh Colombo. Can he make the World Cup? His buyout clause at Valenciais about £80m. What if Barcelona get him from Valencia after a season of commanding display? Ok, that was extreme.

In other transfer news, Walcott may be on his way to Everton and Sanchez look destined for Manchester. It could be blue or red.

What of transfer in? There are talks of Pavon, Malcom, Evans, Mahrez, Lemar, Henry, Okpotu and Abu Azeez. Everyone is linked to the Emirates.
