Arsenal finally recorded a Premier League win in the 2021/22 season after Aubameyang tapped in from close range to defeat Norwich City.

It was an early season relegation battle between the two bottom placed teams at this stage of the season. Arsenal were without a point and without a goal. Norwich were also without a point but had a better goal difference and even had a goal.

Arteta gave Aaron Ramsdale his Premier League debut for the Gunners and the former Sheffield man recorded his second clean sheet in as many games.

Ben White & Gabriel partnered at the centre while new Japanese signing Tomi (I will get the full spelling of his name soon) made his debut.

Niles was placed in his preferred role in Central midfield, along side Lokonga who made his Belgian debut few days ago. Pepe, Saka and Aubameyang made up the starting XI.

Arsenal started like a house on fire, tormenting Norwich with Pepe, the chief tormentor. Unfortunately, the Gunners couldn’t convert any of the chances that came from the early corner kicks and free kicks.

The game went flaccid after the 25th minute. The early Arsenal energy had thinned out. There was this fear that Norwich could even get something with Teemu Pukki hovering around.

In the second half, Arteta introduced Smith Rowe and Partey for Tomi & Lokonga. That change brought a different kind of spark to the team.

Arsenal finally got a goal which turned out to be the winner. Pepe’s shot hit the post, returned to the Winger. His second attempt was saved by Tim Krul but the ball found its way to Aubameyang who tapped home to the delight of the fans at the Emirates.

VAR was called upon to check for a possible offside. I was certain the goal would be chalked off but upon VAR review, it stood. The goal was Scrappy but Auba would not mind.

Arsenal failed to secure an insurance goal with so many chances unconverted. A late Norwich rally couldn’t get past Ramsdale as Arsenal held on to the 1-0 win.

The win moves Arsenal away from the relegation zone.

With no mid-week European action, the Gunners can prepare for Spurs next.

Meanwhile Ronaldo returned and grabbed a brace for Manchester United. Can you beat that?
