Lucas Moura’s 68th minute goal gave Spurs a 1-0 win over Burnley while Queens Park Rangers lost to Sunderland via penalties after the match ended goalless in regulation time.
Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind twice, held Leicester City to a 2-2 draw but lost 4-2 on penalties to the Foxes while a second-string Liverpool side beat Preston 2-0.
Brentford defeated Stoke City 2-1 while West Ham ended Manchester City’s 21 match unbeaten run in the League cup. The Hammers held Pep’s Citizens to a goalless draw before knocking out the defending champions 5-3 on penalties.
