Things rarely go as planned but it has never and should never stop man from planning. Too many times, the hopes of the Emirates faithfuls are raised but just like a sine graph, it is usually dashed.

Arsenal’s hope of a third straight FA Cup title was dashed on Sunday after they lost 2-1 to Watford at the Emirates. Odion Ighalo, who had only scored one goal in 2016, opened scoring in the 50th minute before Adlene Guedioura doubled the lead for the visitors in the 63rd minute. All of Wenger’s tinkering and substitution could only muster a consolation from Welbeck 2 minutes from regulation time.
It was a game that had Ozil and 10 other misfits. Despite having a closed door meeting with the “senior players”, excluding the manager, the result on the pitch didn’t change. Four wins in 15 games is relegation form. Wenger has to be ruthless or the board should show him ruthlessness. Unfortunately, he looks so untouchable.

A trophyless season is loading. The FA Cup is gone. Can Arsenal beat Barcelona in Nou Camp in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday?
It was goals galore in Nigeria on Sunday with reigning Champions, Enyimba FC putting 5 past Vital’O in the CAF Champions League. The Burundi side were beaten black and blue in Enyimba’s makeshift home – Port Harcourt. Their name sounds like a popular beverage drink in the 90’s and the Peoples Elephants had their fill with braces from Stephen Chukwude and Mfon Udoh and a late goal from Ugochukwu Leonard.

Warri Wolves made their debut in the CAF Champions League but lost at home to Al-Merrikh of Sudan. Their chances of qualification have been dashed. Nasarawa United defeated Costantine by a lone goal in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the Nigeria Professional Football League, newly promoted MFM FC sprang to the top of the table with a 3-1 victory over Elkanemi Warriors. Rangers and Abia Warriors played out a pulsating 2-2 draw in the first Oriental Derby of the season. Rivers United left it too late to start a comeback in Lokoja as they lost 3-2 to Niger Tornadoes.
Anthony Okpotu scored his 5th goal of the season but could only help Lobi Stars secure a 2-2 to visitors Kano Pillars. The foreigners in Nnewi helped FC Ifeanyiubah to a 4-1 win over newly promoted Ikorodu United with a brace from Nico Dao. Giwa FC pipped Sunshine Stars 1-0 thanks to a late late goal in Jos.
In case you missed it, PSG are champions of the French Ligue 1 with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Troyes. Zlatan has conquered France and wants his stature to replace the Eiffel Tower in Paris if he is to remain in PSG. Dare to Zlatan.

That was my weekend. How was yours?
Enjoy.
